Fleet One: SDYC Yachting Cup

Posted by on May 7, 2014 in Boating News | Comments Off on Fleet One: SDYC Yachting Cup

The Southern California FT 10 fleet (Fleet 1) showed up in good numbers for San Diego Yacht Clubs premier event, Yachting Cup. Conditions brought light breeze and small waves just a couple miles offshore of Point Loma. The seven boat fleet consisted of the San Diego regulars plus the Dana Point FT 10 fleet. Dana Point now has the fastest growing FT 10 fleet on the west coast with the addition of two more boats in the last few months. After two days of racing Justice (USA 9) took first place followed by Nihhi (USA 56) and Abacus (USA 8) took the last podium spot.  Full results here. Finishes were a lot closer then results indicate on paper, many races saw groups of boats finishing within lengths of each other. Thank you to SDYC and its sponsors for putting on a great event and thank you to all FT 10 owners and crew who were involved. Look out...

San Diego NOOD- Videos, Results and More

Posted by on Apr 9, 2014 in Boating News | Comments Off on San Diego NOOD- Videos, Results and More

A total of nine Flying Tigers were registered for the 2014 San Diego NOOD presented by Sperry Top-Siders. The five FT 10’s played just a few miles outside the bay taking advantage of the good breeze and downwind waves. Meanwhile, the four FT 7.5’s raced out of Coronado Yacht Club in south bay where the kelp is limited and the ocean breeze is still present. Typical Southern California conditions brought 10-12 knots of steady NW breeze and warm temperatures. Paul and Julie McPherson on Niuhi brought home the gold in the FT 10 class followed by John Harrop on Justice. With the recent addition of three FT 10’s into Dana Point the FT 10 class is once again bringing in good numbers and will be sailing the LBRW as a class. In the South Bay Tom Hirsh on Flying Tiger Boats Racing finished atop followed by David Cattle on Tigress. Big shout out to David and crew for stepping on the FT 7.5 for the first time Saturday morning and bringing some good competition to the fleet. Thanks to SDYC, CYC, Sperry Top-Sider and everyone else who made this such a great event. Cynthia Sinclair Photos Tim Wilkes Photos FT 7.5...

With a 10 boat order for Canada and a 12 boat order for China the factory is firing on all cylinders! This is the first boat out of the mold for the Canadian order, notice the blue stripping. She’s off to get her interior painted then get matched with her deck and hardware. National One Design Sailing Academy will be using their new Tigers 7 days a week teaching basic sailing through advanced racing. If you live in the great lakes area of Canada give one of their five locations a call. The FT 7.5 was the right choice for 1DSailing because of the boats extra large cockpit, stability and...
