After the Canadian winter our friends at National One Design Sailing Academy are getting their fleet of FT 7.5’s in the water for the summer season. 1dSailing has announced several new locations where they offer adult sailing lessons from beginning sailing to advanced racing. Check them out here and more pics on their Facebook page.
Academy Yacht Sales, the affiliate yacht brokerage of Flying Tiger Boats, has just posted a listing for a 2010 FT 7.5. Check out the yachtworld listing on their website here.
The newest FT 10 is under construction and will be shipping to Southern California in just a few weeks to join fleet 1. The boat will be campaigned by Flying Tiger Boats and will be made available for sale to someone looking for a race ready FT 10. Give us a ring…
This will be the second boat to join the fleet in just a couple months. Hull number 83 was purchased by Flying Tiger Boats earlier this year and has since sold to a local who will be very active in the fleet. Look to see USA 83 and USA 118 on the line very soon!
In less than a week a Flying Tiger 7.5 and 10 have switched hands and are beginning to settle in with their new owners. FT 7.5 “USA 103″ was owned and campaigned by Flying Tiger Boats in San Diego but has moved north to Long Beach where she will be very active on the course. Have a good look at her stern! She leaves three other 7.5’s to play in SD and will be sure to turn heads in Long Beach.
FT 10 hull number 83, the newsiest hull delivered to the USA, is on her trailer and doing 60 MPH towards Southern California. After some So-Cal necessary upgrades (darn kelp) she will be battling it out with Fleet 1 up and down the Southern California coast.

Flying Tiger Boats is happy to welcome another active boat to the FT 7.5 fleet 1, San Diego. Pat and his wife Jan just completed the purchase of USA 102, “Tigress”, and will be putting the boat to work on the race course. Tigress was previously used more as a day sailor than a racer but that is soon to change.
With this addition, fleet 1 will now have 4 very active boats on the line and more sure to come. Pat had this to say on why he chose the FT 7.5, “I considered a lot of options – J/70’s, U-20’s, Vipers, older bigger boat, etc., and nothing came close to the value and pure joy of sailing as the 7.5 for San Diego.”
Welcome to the fleet and good luck!
The Southern California FT 10 fleet (Fleet 1) showed up in good numbers for San Diego Yacht Clubs premier event, Yachting Cup. Conditions brought light breeze and small waves just a couple miles offshore of Point Loma.
The seven boat fleet consisted of the San Diego regulars plus the Dana Point FT 10 fleet. Dana Point now has the fastest growing FT 10 fleet on the west coast with the addition of two more boats in the last few months.
After two days of racing Justice (USA 9) took first place followed by Nihhi (USA 56) and Abacus (USA 8) took the last podium spot. Full results here. Finishes were a lot closer then results indicate on paper, many races saw groups of boats finishing within lengths of each other. Thank you to SDYC and its sponsors for putting on a great event and thank you to all FT 10 owners and crew who were involved.
Look out LBRW!

A total of nine Flying Tigers were registered for the 2014 San Diego NOOD presented by Sperry Top-Siders. The five FT 10’s played just a few miles outside the bay taking advantage of the good breeze and downwind waves. Meanwhile, the four FT 7.5’s raced out of Coronado Yacht Club in south bay where the kelp is limited and the ocean breeze is still present.
